As a designer one of my favorite types of projects to work on are remodels. The dramatic before and after just makes my heart happy, but I also know as a homeowner that process can be stressful when you know you want a change but just don’t know where to start.
I recently stumbled across a new vendor and it instantly inspired me to create a shop the look around a bathroom remodel, which in turn takes some of the guesswork out of the design process for you! I always recommend finding that one piece you love and starting there. I instantly fell in love with the Ida Freestanding Tub, centered in the below concept board. How could you not relax in a room built around this beauty? Because of its clean and classic lines it could work in a variety of style, but for this Shop The Look I wanted to go with a modern farmhouse style.
With the styles high contrast of whites and blacks the finishes fell into place next. White shiplap on the walls against these Black Slate Tiles on the floor definitely give me that modern farmhouse feel I am going for. I continue the white wall look with these White Beveled Subway Tiles on the shower wall to add some dimension and because smaller tiles work better for shower floors these black Mosaic Tiles will finish off the flooring materials perfectly. In keeping with the shower I couldn’t not use this Frameless Shower Door, the black satin window pane style adds a perfect black contrast against the walls of the shower and a Carrara Marble Threshold.
For the vanity area I chose a White Vanity With A Black Granite Top with clean lines to keep that high contrast feel moving around the space. Because of the use of hand-hewn wood beams on the ceiling I wanted to bring in that distressed wood look in these Bamboo Framed Wall Mirrors, the black accents on the corners are a perfect extra bit of detail! To top off the vanity area I didn’t choose your typical vanity light, but these Modern Matte Black Wall Sconces because together with the Iron 8 Light Chandelier and specified recessed lights the space will be well lit enough to go with something more unexpected.
If you are looking for an extra special barn door that’s unique then check out these Sliding Black Doors. They come with clear glass but by applying an Etch Cream to the panes of glass on site you can create privacy with a frosted look.
For the final touches I have added in these Brushed Nickel Faucets, which will show up better against the black granite counters than a black finish would, don’t be afraid to mix your metals! This Modern Styled Tub Filler compliments the clean lines of the sink faucet and also comes with a hand shower. And of course as mentioned in my 15 Secrets To Make It Look Like You Hired An Interior Designer you have to add White Towels for a fresh look!
